Book my Budapest half-day city tour for a private, 4-hour overview of Buda & Pest. We’ll drive and walk between landmarks so you see more with less rushing—panoramic hills, grand boulevards and riverside icons—while I share the stories that tie it all together.

How we’ll explore (drive + walk)

I’ll meet you at your hotel, then we glide along Andrássy Avenue—Budapest’s Champs-Élysées—past elegant 19th-century palaces to Heroes’ Square. We stroll City Park (Városliget) to see the Széchenyi Baths and fairy-tale Vajdahunyad Castle, then continue to the State Opera House for its best angles and foyer details (interior peeks when schedules allow).

In the center we visit St. Stephen’s Basilica (interior on request; services permitting). If you’d like—and timing allows—we can add the dome lookout (96 m) for a superb vista over Pest (tickets/queues apply). From here we cross the Danube river to Buda and the cobbled lanes of the Castle District.

On Castle Hill we weave around Matthias Church and Fisherman’s Bastion for postcard Danube views, and trace how a medieval castle became a Habsburg Baroque palace. We can descend or ascend via the Castle Garden Bazaar (Várkert Bazár)—stairs or escalator—before our grand finale.

Panorama finale

We finish on Gellért Hill for a sweeping view over beautiful Budapest—bridges, Parliament and Castle Hill in one frame. It’s the perfect orientation stop before dinner or sunset plans.

Julia is the best! Julia is great. We took the 4 hour tour with a car and driver so we got to see a lot of Budapest in a short amount of time. Julia gave us an enormous amount of detail about the history of the city and country and was very flexible in the itinerary.

Julia is a true gem that is extremely knowledgeable and has a true love for her city. We took a 4 hour tour with her and she showed us many amazing facets of both the Pest and Buda sides of the river. The time went so quickly and she knew just the right places to take us. Just let her know what you want to see and she will take you. Her suggestion for dinner was even amazing. Do not hesitate to book her for anything that you would like to do.

When you look for a private tour guide in Budapest many names pop up. I’m a very experienced traveler and without knowing her decided to go along with Julia because something looked appealing to me in the way she described herself. My wife asked “who recommended her”and I said nobody it was just a feeling.
Well my feelings were right. Julia is amazingly knowledgable and above all an exceptionally pleasant woman. She adapted the tour to our needs and we spent an amazing day with her, a group of 5 in a cosy van.
It’s not important what we saw, the important is who takes you there. I highly recommend to book a tour with her, you won’t regret it.
I chose her by a hunch, you are lucky to have my review and know that you choose correctly.

We highly recommend Julia. I booked a tour of Budapest for my mom and me with her after she came highly recommended to me. Her knowledge of the city and country of Hungary is apparent right from the start. We learned so much, enjoyed the sites, and overall had an amazing afternoon. Julia is very easy to talk with and felt like a friend at the end. I want to book again and learn more!

Don’t wonder any more if you should enjoy Julia on one of her tours. Just do it! After multiple good tours on our Viking and Silverseas trips, and quite a few private tours in places like Paris, Turkey, and Vienna…I can say Julia is one of the best! She loves Budapest. It shows. She’s genuine, low key, enthusiastic without the fake bubbly, and perfectly knowledgeable.

I’m not a stand in one place and listen for a long time kind of tour participant. I enjoy a nice pace, keep it moving, don’t bore me, and let me see as much as possible in our timeframe “kind of guy”. Julia delivers. She just does. The highlight of our visit to Budapest and someone you’ll feel is your friend in Budapest by the time you’re through. That’s Julia. Thanks for a memorable afternoon!

Julia rocks! Julia’s tour is a great overview/summary of Budapest. After her tour it allowed me to explore activities she suggested during her tour. There is so much to do in Budapest and Julia has so much knowledge and recommendations of what you are looking for. She has answers to all of your questions. She is very patient. Very accommodating. Not a lot of walking and a great tour for all ages.

This tour was taken for a small group of us traveling on business- this could not be more perfect. While Julia is native to Budapest, her knowledge of the history here can easily be seen through her thoughtful relay of information. I appreciated that she not only provided facts, but she also informed on her perspective and fact vs. fictitious/mythical information. This tour was perfect for us as we saw nearl all of the major sights eg., St. Stephen’s Basilica, fisherman’s bastion, parliament, shoes on danube,Andrassy street, and the numerous other highlights of this city- she has a super nice personality and is flexible. We truly had an amazing experience with her on this tour of Budapest and highly recommend to others!

In addition to seeing a lot of Budapest in a nice half day tour, Julia provides a ton of interesting information throughout. The combination of touring in a comfortable van with many walking breaks was ideal as well.

Julia was nothing short of amazing! She had a plan and it was perfect. We learned a lot about this history of Budapest. Julia gave us so much information that pertained to each site she took us to: St. Stephens Basicilia, Buda Castle District, Fisherman’s Bastion, Heroes Square where they were setting up for the horse races this weekend, City Park, Matthias Church the unbelievable views from Gellert Hill, Statue of Liberty plus a taste of Chimney cakes! Julia is knowledgeable and friendly. Perfect day!

Julia is super friendly and efficient. The half tour by car was so perfect for my family who have a very limited time in Budapest . We practically covered almost all the attractions and places in Budapest . She is so informative in explaining the historical facts on one places to another . Overall, we were very happy and satisfied with the tour.

August 23, 2019

Excellent tour. Julia is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Since we had already visited some of the sights see adjusted the tour. Highly recommend Julia.

Julia is an amazing tour guide! Punctual, educated, passionate and fun—-perfect combination. Our first half day tour was a discovery of Pest with Julia providing excellent commentary. At one point, Julia lead us though a nondescript door that lead to a courtyard full of history, at another point we ventured into a Ruin bar for a peek at modern Pest. Our half day Buda tour was equally informative and amazing. Julia knew the paths that avoided tourist packed sections but still provided incredible views.

November 30, 2018

We spent 2 half days with Julia. The first was a driving tour of the highlights and the 2nd was the walking food tour.
Julia was a fabulous guide. Extremely knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. If you are in Budapest then I thoroughly recommend you book her.

November 28, 2018

Julia was our guide. She showed with her driver in a Mercedes van. We saw a ton of stuff but did not feel rushed. She really has a passion for her heritage and hit the highlights enough to get a good understanding of Budapest both culturally and historically. We returned to 3 of the highlights and know that there is enough to keep us coming back maybe 3 more times. If it is possible we will be looking to have Julia accompany us again.

October 21, 2018

I can not imagine having a tour guide better than Julia! We learned so much about the history and important places to see in Budapest. Julia not only knows her history, but she is a very pleasant woman to be around. And she has a great sense of humor. Julia was punctual. She kept us on track so that we could visit and see all of the places she had in mind for us. Yet we never felt rushed. Then, as a bonus, she sat down with us afterwards and marked more important destinations on a map. Great recommends!

October 15, 2018

Julia K. was very enthusiastic and funny which made our private tour exciting. Told many stories and stopped at some unique locations. She navigated around the many roadblocks because the president of Turkey was visiting the city. Would definitely seek her services if we were to visit Budapest again

August 18, 2018

Julia was a wonderful guide. She was very informative about the history of Budapest becoming 800 to the present day. She took us to many important places that showed this history in greater depth. We really felt we had a greater understanding of this country. We also went to some really fun places that again showed more of the history, like the Ruin Bar. Thank you for a great day!

July 28, 2018

Julia was quick to reply to all emails I sent prior to our excursion. She was waiting for us when we got off the ship and she was easy to find. We toured the city in an air conditioned van and on foot. She introduced us to areas on both the Pest and Buda sides of the river. She gave us information that would benefit us on our 2 and half more days in the city. She advised us on public transportation and checked opening hours of places we wanted to visit. I felt I was touring with a long time friend!

July 21, 2018

Our guide adapted to an unexpected situation. My camera had broken shortly before the tour. As I planned to shop for a new camera the next day, my guide said, “we will take you to a shopping mall, and I will help you purchase a new camera.” We did without loosing too much time. My guide also found a place, as we visited a one of the tour sights, to charge the new battery. The overall tour was great, and I no longer had to worry about purchasing a new camera at a business that didn’t speak my language.

I am in Budapest for work. Decided to take a tour with family and friends. Julia came to our hotel with our driver and took us on a magical four hour tour of Budapest. She is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about her homeland. We LOVED listening to her stories and seeing the sights. Don’t be stupid, hire Julia TODAY! You won’t regret it!

December 21, 2015

I scheduled Julia for a 2 Day pre-cruise tour for 6 clients. On their return the first thing they said was “Julia and Kate were awesome. Budapest was over the top!!”.
Thank you ladies! It is so comfortable to send my clients to you – they receive a tour filled with energy and they come away with a love for Budapest.

November 27, 2015

Julia Kravianszky was a phenomenal tour guide. She loves her country and her career of being a tour guide and it shows. The four hours flew by. We saw beautiful churches, scenery, monuments and a city that has gone through so many changes over the course of history.

July 15, 2015
