My name is Julia Kravianszky and I adore Hungary.

I was born and raised in Budapest, I lived here all my life so I consider myself a real Budapester. I’m a passionate and enthusiastic private tour guide and I would like to show you around my beautiful country that I hope you’ll never forget. Moreover, I’d love to share with you all the hidden treasures, fascinating stories, and authentic local experiences that my hometown and country have to offer.

I speak fluent English and French, and I offer customised private tours for individuals, couples, families, and small groups. Whether this is your first time in Hungary or you’re returning to explore it deeper, my goal is to help you experience it like a local — not just visit it as a tourist.

Why I Became a Tour Guide

My journey as a private tour guide started already in high school. I knew from the very beginning that this is what I was meant to do. Guiding isn’t just my profession – it’s my true passion. Over the years, I’ve come to believe that the best way to explore a city’s culture, history, and everyday life is through the eyes of a local. Therefore during our time together, I’ll share with you not only historical facts and famous landmarks. Also, I will be happy to share local legends, personal anecdotes, and secret stories you won’t find in any guidebook.

Explore Budapest and Beyond

My private guided tours in Budapest are fully tailored to your interests and schedule. For instance, you can choose from relaxed walking tours through charming districts, scenic car or minivan tours covering major highlights, or even day trips to the Hungarian countryside, where you can discover beautiful small towns, wine regions, castles, and natural wonders.

Hungary is a fascinating blend of cultures, histories, and influences – from Ottoman and Habsburg heritage to vibrant modern life – and I’d love to help you explore all its unique shades.

As the photo editor of Hungary’s most popular food magazine, I also have a deep love and knowledge of Hungarian cuisine. So if you’re a foodie, be sure to ask me for tips! I can recommend authentic restaurants, cozy cafés, and hidden gems. Therefore, you can taste traditional dishes like goulash, chimney cake, lángos, and more. In addition, we can include food tastings in your tour if you’d like!

Whether you’re interested in architecture, history, culture, gastronomy, photography, or just want to have fun and make unforgettable memories, I’ll do my best to create a personalised experience just for you.

BUDAPEST HIGHLIGHTS BY CAR (HALF-DAY)

Julia is a fantastic tour guide who speaks great English and loves her country and her subject matter. She is an authority on alll things of Budapest, Hungary! Her knowledge of WWII and the history of Hungary is superb. The four hours flew by and my wife, our friends and I walked away grateful for the time we spent with our excellent tour guide, Julia! JEWISH QUARTER BUDAPEST WALK

This was my first visit to Budapest, and I was eager to have a tour of the Jewish Quarter. Julia is the ideal guide for this tour! The first thing she did was to ask me about my interests, enabling her to tailor the tour to fit me. She is extremely knowledgeable and she feels understandably proud of her beautiful home city. The tour is paced nicely, and it’s enriched by the many quick stops to see an interesting architectural detail or to hear a story about someone who lived here. Not only will I happily return to Budapest, I’ll plan another tour with Julia.

BUDAPEST FOODIE TOUR

Julia is brilliant! She has exceptional taste and knows all the secrets. Her food tour was so much more than food. It was about the history and culture as expressed in the food. It was freezing outside, but Julia was warm and helpful and very engaging. We will be coming back to Budapest someday soon and will book her for a genealogical tour. We have already recommended her to our closest friends, who will be here in June.

BUDAPEST PANORAMA BY CAR (FULL-DAY)

My family and I (4 adults) did a full day tour with Julia before our river cruise. She readily modified the tour based on what we had already seen and planned to see to avoid duplication. With some family members loving history and some loving stories and cool places, Julia made it a wonderful experience for all of us. She also shared her family stories about living in the communist era and Christmas’ making it very personable. We hope to come back to Budapest during the summer months and have Julia show us even more of this beautiful city.

BUDAPEST FOOD & ETYEK WINE TOUR

I was very fortunate to find Julia’s website via comments on Rick Steve’s website. We had an all day- food and wine of Budapest- excursion with her. Julia includes typical locations like Central Market, but also takes you to unique specialty shops along the way. This was our first day in Budapest, and my only regret is we were terribly jet lagged. Julia adapted the day to meet our needs and interests. In the afternoon we travelled by motor coach to a wonderful winery. The white and red wines from the region were superb. We could not have been happier
