My name is Julia Kravianszky and I adore Hungary.

I was born and raised in Budapest, I lived here all my life so I consider myself a real Budapester. I’m a passionate and enthusiastic private tour guide and I would like to show you around my beautiful country that I hope you’ll never forget. Moreover, I’d love to share with you all the hidden treasures, fascinating stories, and authentic local experiences that my hometown and country have to offer.

I speak fluent English and French, and I offer customized private tours for individuals, couples, families, and small groups. Whether this is your first time in Hungary or you’re returning to explore it deeper, my goal is to help you experience it like a local — not just visit it as a tourist.

Why I Became a Tour Guide

My journey as a private tour guide started already in high school. I knew from the very beginning that this is what I was meant to do. Guiding isn’t just my profession – it’s my true passion. Over the years, I’ve come to believe that the best way to explore a city’s culture, history, and everyday life is through the eyes of a local. Therefore during our time together, I’ll share with you not only historical facts and famous landmarks. Also, I will be happy to share local legends, personal anecdotes, and secret stories you won’t find in any guidebook.

Explore Budapest and Beyond

My private guided tours in Budapest are fully tailored to your interests and schedule. For instance, you can choose from relaxed walking tours through charming districts, scenic car or minivan tours covering major highlights, or even day trips to the Hungarian countryside, where you can discover beautiful small towns, wine regions, castles, and natural wonders.

Hungary is a fascinating blend of cultures, histories, and influences – from Ottoman and Habsburg heritage to vibrant modern life – and I’d love to help you explore all its unique shades.

As the photo editor of Hungary’s most popular food magazine, I also have a deep love and knowledge of Hungarian cuisine. So if you’re a foodie, be sure to ask me for tips! I can recommend authentic restaurants, cozy cafés, and hidden gems. Therefore, you can taste traditional dishes like goulash, chimney cake, lángos, and more. In addition, we can include food tastings in your tour if you’d like!

Whether you’re interested in architecture, history, culture, gastronomy, photography, or just want to have fun and make unforgettable memories, I’ll do my best to create a personalised experience just for you.

HALF-DAY BUDAPEST TOUR BY CAR

Julia was an absolutely amazing guide! She is incredibly knowledgeable, and it’s clear how much she loves her city. Her passion and deep understanding of Budapest’s history truly brought every story to life and made the tour both fascinating and engaging. You couldn’t wish for a better guide – and the fact that she’s also such a lovely person made the whole experience perfect

HALF-DAY BUDAPEST TOUR BY CAR

We highly recommend Julia as a tour guide. As a lifelong resident of Budapest, she shared a fascinating mix of history and stories with us. She tailored the tour to match our interests and made it very enjoyable. She is very organized with her timing and plans. She also gave us great recommendations for the rest of our trip.

BUDAPEST CULINARY AND ETYEK WINE COUNTRY DRIVING TOUR

Julia was, quite simply, the best guide we have ever had anywhere. She is passionate about Budapest and it shows – she truly loves and knows her city. She is also extremely knowledgeable, not only knowing what you would expect a guide to know, but also always offering a fascinating tidbit that you would never find in a guidebook. Her English is perfect and she has a great sense of humor, which makes the tour even more fun. We also visited Prague and Vienna on this trip, and although all of our guides were excellent, Julia was in a class by herself.

HALF-DAY DRIVING HALF DAY WALKING BUDAPEST PRIVATE TOUR

I’ll make this simple, don’t even consider using any other guide in Budapest. My wife and I just finished two days of tours with Julia and can’t say enough good things about her, her knowledge of the city, and about what a great time we had. She’s a treasure who turned our two days of Budapest tours into a magical experience. But the best example of Julia’s talent occurred on our first morning. Budapest was the third city we visited (Prague and Vienna being the first two) and by the time we met Julia my wife’s left hip was bothering her. When we met her in our hotel I explained the situation to her and she immediately re-worked the schedule and logistics to make sure we saw everything we wanted to see yet made it easier for my wife. That creativity and flexibility turned what could have been a disappointment into one of the highlights of our trip.

"THE GRAND BUDAPEST" WALK

I feel so fortunate to have spent 7 hours with Julia on the Grand Budapest walking tour. I booked the tour as I was accompanying my husband on his work trip and wanted to have the opportunity to see, experience and learn about Budapest without being part of a large tour group. By far, my time with Julia was the highlight of my 5 days in Budapest. I saw all
of the highlights plus more, learned so much about Budapest and throughly enjoyed our conversations. Julia is so kind, engaging, informative, easy to connect with, attentive, knowledgeable and made every aspect of the day together something I will cherish for years to come. I am so happy I booked this tour and I wish every city had a Julia to tour with.
