My name is Julia Kravianszky and I adore Hungary.

I was born and raised in Budapest, I lived here all my life so I consider myself a real Budapester. I’m a passionate and enthusiastic private tour guide and I would like to show you around my beautiful country that I hope you’ll never forget. Moreover, I’d love to share with you all the hidden treasures, fascinating stories, and authentic local experiences that my hometown and country have to offer.

I speak fluent English and French, and I offer customised private tours for individuals, couples, families, and small groups. Whether this is your first time in Hungary or you’re returning to explore it deeper, my goal is to help you experience it like a local — not just visit it as a tourist.

Why I Became a Tour Guide

My journey as a private tour guide started already in high school. I knew from the very beginning that this is what I was meant to do. Guiding isn’t just my profession – it’s my true passion. Over the years, I’ve come to believe that the best way to explore a city’s culture, history, and everyday life is through the eyes of a local. Therefore during our time together, I’ll share with you not only historical facts and famous landmarks. Also, I will be happy to share local legends, personal anecdotes, and secret stories you won’t find in any guidebook.

Explore Budapest and Beyond

My private guided tours in Budapest are fully tailored to your interests and schedule. For instance, you can choose from relaxed walking tours through charming districts, scenic car or minivan tours covering major highlights, or even day trips to the Hungarian countryside, where you can discover beautiful small towns, wine regions, castles, and natural wonders.

Hungary is a fascinating blend of cultures, histories, and influences – from Ottoman and Habsburg heritage to vibrant modern life – and I’d love to help you explore all its unique shades.

As the photo editor of Hungary’s most popular food magazine, I also have a deep love and knowledge of Hungarian cuisine. So if you’re a foodie, be sure to ask me for tips! I can recommend authentic restaurants, cozy cafés, and hidden gems. Therefore, you can taste traditional dishes like goulash, chimney cake, lángos, and more. In addition, we can include food tastings in your tour if you’d like!

Whether you’re interested in architecture, history, culture, gastronomy, photography, or just want to have fun and make unforgettable memories, I’ll do my best to create a personalised experience just for you.

BUDAPEST WALKING & DRIVING TOUR (FULL-DAY)

This was an excellent tour and I highly recommend it. Julia is incredibly knowledgeable and clearly loves the city. We signed up for the ½ day walking + ½ day driving tour. We learned about Budapest from before the time of St. Stephen (ca. 1000) to the student uprising of 1989 with significant detail and context, including a focus on the time of WWII. We saw both parts of the city by car, foot, bus, and subway. Julia is very flexible and seamlessly adapted the tour when my older relative began having difficulty walking. This is a great tour and a perfect way to start your visit to Budapest.

ART NOUVEAU BUDAPEST

My client recently took a tour with Julia and had a fantastic experience. She absolutely loved her time with her and said she was incredibly down-to-earth, warm, and humble. She felt as though she was spending the day with a longtime friend.

One of the highlights of the tour was seeing Budapest’s beautiful architecture and design through Julia’s unique perspective. My client mentioned that they seemed to click right away and discovered they had a lot in common, making the experience even more enjoyable and personal.

I highly recommend Julia to anyone looking for an authentic, engaging, and memorable tour of Budapest.

ESZTERGOM & DANUBE BEND HIGHLIGHTS

Last week my husband and I spent 2 wonderful days with Julia. It was so much more than we expected and will never be forgotten. Julia made Budapest come alive for us. She expertly orchestrated a driving/walking city tour and then on day 2 we drove into the country. She made it fun and extremely interesting. Without any hesitation, we highly recommend Julia as your tour guide. We hope to come back to Budapest and will definitely set up another date with Julia.

ESZTERGOM & DANUBE BEND HIGHLIGHTS

Our family of 4 went on three private guided tours with Julia. These included a Jewish quarter walking tour, Budapest essentials walking tour and a driving tour of the Danube River Bend. It becomes immediately apparent that she is extremely proud of her Hungarian heritage. She is extremely knowledgable and speaks excellent English. My wife and children felt extremely comfortable around her. She provided us with helpful hints, food, and restaurant recommendations and advice regarding other activities for us while in Budapest. She was punctual and picked us up at her hotel each day. She was extremely patient when we wanted to stop and take photos. She is a delightful person and has an excellent sense of humour. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending Julia as your private tour guide
in Budapest. She was one of the best guides we have had the pleasure of knowing.
