Full-Day Budapest Tour by Car — What You’ll See
I’ll tailor the route, interiors and breaks to your pace and interests while we connect Budapest’s big sights with local stories and photo stops. We’ll begin in Heroes’ Square for a story-led overview of Hungarian history, then wander City Park to the fairy-tale Vajdahunyad Castle under century-old trees.
Driving back along elegant Andrássy Avenue (UNESCO), we’ll admire 19th-century palaces and, when open, step into the State Opera House foyer. At St. Stephen’s Basilica, we can visit the interior and—if you like—take the dome terrace for a sweeping city panorama (tickets separate).
Parliament & Danube Promenade — Pest Icons on Our Private Car Tour
Around Liberty Square we will read the neighbourhood’s symbolism and Art Nouveau façades, then view the Hungarian Parliament and stroll a segment of the Danube Promenade.
Crossing the Elisabeth Bridge, we’ll explore the cobblestoned Buda Castle District: colourful medieval houses, the tiled-roof Matthias Church and the arcades of Fisherman’s Bastion—with postcard views across the river.

How much walking is there?
About 2-4 km across the full day, broken into short segments. I adjust routes and stairs to your comfort.
How do we get around?
Mostly by car and on foot. You will certainly enjoy the comfort of driving around in an 8-seater Mercedes van with private driver. It’s efficient, comfortable, and lets us see more without rushing. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included in the city center.
Can we go up the Basilica dome?
Yes—access is ticketed and weather/season dependent. Views are great even without the climb.
Do we visit interiors?
When time and opening hours allow (Basilica, Matthias Church, selected exhibits). Tickets are paid on the spot.

My family and I (4 adults) did a full day tour with Julia before our river cruise. She readily modified the tour based on what we had already seen and planned to see to avoid duplication. With some family members loving history and some loving stories and cool places, Julia made it a wonderful experience for all of us. She also shared her family stories about living in the communist era and Christmas’ making it very personable. We hope to come back to Budapest during the summer months and have Julia show us even more of this beautiful city.

Julia and her driver met us at the river boat cruise terminal at 9:00 AM o start an amazing day of touring Budapest and the environs outside of it. Julia’s first question was what have you seen and what do you want to see?
Since we had been in port and done a city walking tour the prior day, we explained what we had seen and that we’d put ourselves in her hands so she could show us her ‘hometown and the area outside of it.
Neither she nor our driver disappointed. She truly knows the ins and outs of Budapest and was able to provide us with wonderful knowledge of the city. We were with them for the entire day and they dropped us off at our hotel.
She even suggested that a couple of additional sites to see on our own the next day, as they were within easy walking distance of our hotel the next day.
While it was not an inexpensive day, it was money well spent.

Julia was charming, intelligent and humorous and took excellent care of our family of 5 including my father-in-law who was in a wheelchair. Budapest was a revelation for me and part of that was because of our guide Julia. Apart from her formidable knowledge of the history of the city she delivered it to us in manageable ‘bite sized’ pieces. We hired Julia Kravianszky as a private tour guide of Budapest. It was a delightful experience seeing Budapest with Julia. She was very knowledgeable about Budapest and the important historical and cultural sites. Julia explained the significance of the many monuments and buildings that we would not have obtained on our own. Having lunch at the Strudel House gave us an introduction to Hungarian strudel, different from German strudel. The market in Pest was a cultural experience. The views from the Buda side of the Danube River were spectacular, and the day ended with a fun ride down the funicular. We had a wonderful time with Julia visiting Budapest, her home town, and highly recommend her services as a private tour guide.

We spent four 8 hours days with Julia with a goal of seeing the best of Budapest and the surrounding areas. She did the planning for our adventure and we were delighted with the sites and all of the information she provided. The first day was a walking tour. We visited the local market where we ate fresh sausage/shopped, went to the local finest chocolate shop, along the way visited many beautiful parks, stopped in the Jewish Quarter, went to a pub followed by tasting some local food and finally ended the afternoon on a speed boat ride on the river. Julia was personable and answered a LOT of questions for us.
The next day, we did a walking/driving tour of Budapest. I had NO idea we would accomplish seeing so many sites in one day. In reality, in less than 12 hours I felt like I saw the highlights of Budapest and met a new friend. Julia made us feel so comfortable and answered so many questions regarding history, culture and economy. She is quite knowledgeable of the history of Budapest. I must not close without saying Julia was very trustworthy. If you are looking for a tour guide, look no further. You are not going to find anyone better.
I liaised with Julia in the organization of a birthday trip for 11 guys. Julia gave invaluable advice, suggestions on activities based on the criteria I gave her, booked all the tours, transfers and even sourced the most amazing restaurants for them. Julia is about the best of the best tour guides. She is the sweetest and so knowledgeable. I usually get very bored with guided tour guides but she has the ability to keep you interested and entertained. She also knows history and weird facts about everything!! 100 percent recommend and you won’t regret!
Four of us, two couples, happily toured Budapest and several other small towns with Julia for 2 days. She was so informative and obviously loves her city. She was completely flexible in terms of where we went and had lots of suggestions for us based on our interests.
We also hired a driver to enable us to maximize our time in Budapest as we wanted to do more than we had hours for!! Oh, and I guess some of you might be interested to know that the car was VERY clean and comfortable. Water was provided which was nice.

We traveled with our son and daughter-in-law through Central Europe and took a day trip to Budapest with Julia as our tour guide. This was one of several tours we took in various cities. We all agreed that Budapest was the high point of our trip and that Julia was our favorite guide.
