I’ll take you to the northern part of Hungary, the Danube Bend region is the most beautiful and the most romantic part of Hungary. That’s where the Danube loops south, it’s surrounded by amazing hills and mountains forming a heart shape. We’ll see lovely little towns which once had been of great historical importance. The Danube Bend tour is about Hungary’s history and culture and it’s also about the picturesque views all along the Danube river.
Esztergom is a 1-hour drive from Budapest, it’s situated on the Slovakian border. The town was the cradle of the Hungarian Catholic church and we’ll visit the biggest church of the country, the Esztergom Basilica. You’ll also have the chance to walk to the dome of the Basilica (some 300 stairs) so that you can enjoy the stunning view over the Danube river.
We’ll see the town of Visegrád which once was the capital of Hungary, a royal residence. I’ll show you around the ruins of the extensive complex of medieval castles located right on the top of a hill next to the Danube river, we’ll see the Citadel and the Royal Palace.
Our last stop is Szentendre, a little artists’ village which inspired many Hungarian painters and sculptors. The village has a really unique Mediterranean atmosphere and stunning Baroque architecture. Its charm is due to its colorful houses and cobblestoned streets. The town is full of art galleries, cafés, restaurants and souvenir shops. We’ll see beautiful Baroque architecture, small shops and the sweet Marzipan museum.
