A full-day Budapest culinary private tour to sample the best Hungarian dishes and the finest wines of the Etyek wine region. A beautiful day to explore Hungarian gastronomy is awaiting for you.

We start the tour in the Central Market Hall, a popular local market where people do everyday shopping. Let me show you around the finest products and tell you more about local shopping, eating and drinking culture. We’ll taste goulash soup, sausages, salami and great Hungarian strudel, too. You’ll of course have the chance to buy the best Paprika in town.

Budapest is very famous for its bakeries. I’ll amaze you by the variety of sweet and savoury pastries that are the locals’ favourites. Local butchers are one of the housewifes’ best friends, the Hungarian cuisine is mostly about meat. Let’s try some hot dog freshly prepared at the butcher’s.

In the afternoon we drive to Etyek, it’s about 20 minutes from Budapest. I’d like to show you around the unique cellars carved in limestone which also are the landmark of Etyek. We’ll visit several winemakers at three different locations. We start our walk at the Old Hill, its small, family wine cellars are adorable and have a very unique atmosphere. We’ll continue at the circle of cellars where we’ll visit boutique wineries. We’ll finish our tour by visiting the New Hill, so that you can get familiar with the young generation of winemakers. I’ll also show you around the cellars of a family-owned winery.

We discovered Julia Kravianszky from on-line searches for a tour guide to show us the highlights of Budapest. What she offered on her web site, she delivered. Julia was our guide for two days of tours in and around Budapest and we would highly recommend her. She is a great guide, very well-informed, speaks perfect English. She has a lovely friendly manner that instantly forms a bond with you. She is a happy person who spreads happiness. We are history buffs and Julia provided a comprehensive understanding of the history and culture of Budapest and Hungary. She has a deep love of her city and country and very importantly Julia knows how to adapt to the wishes and constraints of her customers.

During two days, Julia took us on a 4 hour driving tour of Budapest showing us all the main sights of the city. In the evening we toured Budapest to see the lights and the views including a delightful cruise on the Danube. On the second day, we undertook the gastronomic tour of the city on foot in the morning and then drove a short distance out of the city to enjoy tasting the local wines.

We had a marvellous time – thanks to Julia.
