Do you want to see where Dracula lives? Are you interested in discovering a half medieval half Baroque royal palace? Would you like to visit the church which symbolizes the entire Hungarian history? Are you looking for a view protected by UNESCO World Heritage? Join me for the 4-hour Buda walking tour in the 1000-year-old town.
Buda became Hungary’s capital in the 13th century and its architecture is a fascinating mixture of Medieval and Baroque styles. I’d like to show you around the historic old town including the famous Matthias church and the Fisherman’s Bastion.
We’ll start our tour around the old, cobblestoned streets of the Castle District and we’ll visit the 700-year-old Royal Palace. I’ll then introduce you the rather unique combination of the medieval Hungarian Castle and the new Baroque Palace designed by and for the Habsburg Empire.
You’ll feel like a real royal climbing up the stairs – or perhaps taking the escalator – of the magnificent Castle Garden Bazaar, which is now a beautiful park with a great view over the Danube river. I’ll then show you the beautiful residential buildings with medieval remains.
We’ll visit the Matthias church, that is probably the most beautiful and certainly the most unique church of our city. Later we’ll see the Fisherman’s Bastion in order to savor the view from the neighborhood’s most richly ornate look-out terrace. I’ll also take you to Buda’s best confectionery because I’m convinced you’ll enjoy trying some of our famous cakes.
Finally, I’m sure you’ll adore the spectacular panorama from the top of the Castle Hill all over beautiful Budapest.
