Join the most comprehensive and personal Budapest tour! I would like to show you the Budapest where I grew up, the Budapest that I think is the most magnificent city of the world.

I’ll show you the monuments of the city’s historical main square, the Heroes square where while presenting the statues I can give you a short overview of the Hungarian history. Let’s walk around the 100-year-old trees of the City Park and visit the fairy tale Vajdahunyad Castle.

We’ll drive back to the city center all along Andrássy Avenue. You’ll certainly be amazed by the splendid 19th century palaces, all listed among UNESCO World Heritage sites. We’ll have a look at the main foyer of the State Opera House. We’ll visit the St. Stephen’s Basilica, the largest Catholic church of Budapest which had been built for 55 years. I’d be happy to walk with you to the top of the Basilica’s dome, so that you can enjoy the stunning view.

We’ll take a walk around Liberty square. I’ll then show you the most contreversial WW2 monuments of the neighborhood and the best examples of Hungarian Art Nouveau architecture. We’ll have a look at the second largest Parliament building of Europe.

After crossing the Danube river on the 170-year-old Chain Bridge we’ll stroll around the cobblestoned streets of the Buda Castle District. I’ll show you colorful houses from the Middle Ages and the gorgeous view from the top of the Fisherman’s Bastion. I’ll take you to Buda’s oldest church, the Matthias Church.

We’ll drive to the top of the 235m high Gellért hill, to the unique look-out terrace from where you can take outstanding pictures of both Buda and Pest. I’ll show you around the famous Gellért bathhouse and the hidden Cave Church of Budapest.

We’ll get back to Pest, we’ll visit the Central Market Hall. I’ll show you the best places where you can buy Hungarian paprika and wines. We can also taste some sausage, cheese or strudel in the market.

Finally, we’ll take a walk in the Jewish quarter. Let me show you the famous synagogue triangle and the poignant monuments commemorating the Budapest ghetto.

Wife and I did a full day car tour and 1/2 day walking tour of the Jewish Quarter with Julia and couldn’t be more pleased. We saw an amazing amount of the city and sights and after a short time it was like being guided by a friend. Julia is extremely well versed in Budapest history ,was flexible with our interests ,took care of getting all our tickets and reservations and most of all she is a wonderful person. Recommend her highly to anyone wanting to get the most out of visiting this beautiful city.

Julia’s “Best of Budapest” was, put simply, outstanding. Her knowledge of the history and current state of the city and country was deep and broad. We had a river ship tour of the city the day before this one, and, as my wife put it, we would have known and seen very little of this beautiful city but for Julia’s expertise and insight. We have always had great experiences with ToursByLocals guides, and Julia was among the very best. She gets my highest recommendation! Thank you, Julia!!

My husband and I had the pleasure of experiencing Budapest through the eyes of an exceptional tour guide, Julia. She 100% made our visit to this beautiful city unforgettable with her in-depth knowledge, enthusiasm, and warm personality.

We were greeted by Julia with a box of chocolates as she congratulated us on our honeymoon. Julia demonstrated an impressive depth of knowledge about Budapest’s history, culture, and landmarks. She provided historical context and engaging stories at every stop. It was like having a living encyclopedia by our side!

It would have taken us 4 days navigating ourselves to see everything she showed us in 7 hours. We appreciated how she took us to some local spots and some great “photo op” stops as well. We cant recommend Julia enough!

Julia and her driver met us at the river boat cruise terminal at 9:00 AM o start an amazing day of touring Budapest and the environs outside of it. Julia’s first question was what have you seen and what do you want to see?

Since we had been in port and done a city walking tour the prior day, we explained what we had seen and that we’d put ourselves in her hands so she could show us her ‘hometown and the area outside of it.

Neither she nor our driver disappointed. She truly knows the ins and outs of Budapest and was able to provide us with wonderful knowledge of the city. We were with them for the entire day and they dropped us off at our hotel.

She even suggested that a couple of additional sites to see on our own the next day, as they were within easy walking distance of our hotel the next day.

While it was not an inexpensive day, it was money well spent.

Julia gave us the best tour of Budapest! She showed us the highlights of the city during our time together. Julia connected the sights we saw to the history and culture of Budapest and Hungary, which gave us a great appreciation for both. We also enjoyed our conversations with Julia during the day. Julia designed the tour at the perfect pace for us. The mix of driving and walking worked well. Her driver was personable and the car was very comfortable and clean. We’d love to tour with Julia again.

Julia was charming, intelligent and humorous and took excellent care of our family of 5 including my father-in-law who was in a wheelchair. We had an amazing day touring all the main sights in beautiful Budapest with excellent information and historical context given by Julia. Our van was very comfortable and our driver a true gentleman. Having a private car enabled us to achieve a lot of sight seeing in a very efficient manner and Julia made the process very interesting. Thank you!

Budapest was a revelation for me and part of that was because of our guide Julia. Apart from her formidable knowledge of the history of the city she delivered it to us in manageable ‘bite sized’ pieces. There is always a lot to learn in a new city and she gave us the time line and examples of each era. It was fantastic. She is passionate about her country and I could totally see why. I will definitely return. As one of the reviewers already said she feels like a friend! We covered so much and there wasn’t a dull moment. Well done Julia. You are great.

Julia was an excellent guide and we had her showing us around for 2 days. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Budapest as well as a wine tour the next day!

We hired Julia Kravianszky as a private tour guide of Budapest. It was a delightful experience seeing Budapest with Julia. She was very knowledgeable about Budapest and the important historical and cultural sites. Julia explained the significance of the many monuments and buildings that we would not have obtained on our own. Having lunch at the Strudel House gave us an introduction to Hungarian strudel, different from German strudel. The market in Pest was a cultural experience. The views from the Buda side of the Danube River were spectacular, and the day ended with a fun ride down the funicular. We had a wonderful time with Julia visiting Budapest, her home town, and highly recommend her services as a private tour guide.

Thus was a fantastic tour by a Budapest local. Julia was an amazing guide…prompt, friendly, courteous and full of information about her hometown. She took us to a local hangout for a traditional lunch and to “off the beaten path” sights to see. Definitely recommend Julia….5+ stars!!!

Having Julia show us around Budapest was the experience of a lifetime. She was so knowledgeable, so interesting, and so much fun we didn’t want the tour to end. It is obvious that she loves her city, and her enthusiasm and insight made us love it too. I cannot recommend Julia more. She is a gem. Get her if you can. Richard E. U.S.A.

Julia was fantastic! She picked us up promptly at our cruise ship and showed us around her beautiful city. One of our group is handicapped, and Julia was very patient and accommodating. It was a cold, rainy day but Julia brought us sunshine! She changed the tour to suit our needs and took us to a wonderful lunch spot. Highly recommend.

Julia is a fantastic tour guide . She knows Budapest inside out and has a lot of knowledge about the history, the culture and all the monuments. Her English and French are superb and she is a very nice person . We had a great day touring Buda and Pest with her .

Booked a full day tour with Julia and a driver. They met us at the hotel just as promised. The vehicle was a brand new Merc people hauler and very comfortable. Julia was able to customize the tour on the fly as things came up. Julia was very knowledgeable and curious. A great introduction to Budapest.

This is an excellent comprehensive day tour of Budapest. We highly recommend Julia. Extremely knowledgeable and professional. She very nice and easy/fun to talk with. She was very accommodating with our schedule as we took a train from Vienna. Very nice high quality transportation.

We spent four 8 hours days with Julia with a goal of seeing the best of Budapest and the surrounding areas. She did the planning for our adventure and we were delighted with the sites and all of the information she provided. She was prepared to deal with changing weather conditions so we were always on the move. We highly recommend her service!

September 17, 2018

The first day was a walking tour. We visited the local market where we ate fresh sausage/shopped, went to the local finest chocolate shop, along the way visited many beautiful parks, stopped in the Jewish Quarter, went to a pub followed by tasting some local food and finally ended the afternoon on a speed boat ride on the river. Julia was personable and answered a LOT of questions for us.

The next day, we did a walking/driving tour of Budapest. I had NO idea we would accomplish seeing so many sites in one day. In reality, in less than 12 hours I felt like I saw the highlights of Budapest and met a new friend. Julia made us feel so comfortable and answered so many questions regarding history, culture and economy. She is quite knowledgeable of the history of Budapest. I must not close without saying Julia was very trustworthy. If you are looking for a tour guide, look no further. You are not going to find anyone better.

I liaised with Julia in the organization of a birthday trip for 11 guys. Julia gave invaluable advice, suggestions on activities based on the criteria I gave her, booked all the tours, transfers and even sourced the most amazing restaurants for them. My list of questions over the weeks were always answered quickly and gave me great confidence in the trip we were pulling together. On their return, they could not speak more highly of Julia. The tours that she organized and accompanied them on were all enjoyed tremendously and they thoroughly enjoyed her knowledge of Budapest. Highly recommend anyone that is arranging a trip to Budapest to use Julia.

Julia is about the best of the best tour guides. She is the sweetest and so knowledgeable. I usually get very bored with guided tour guides but she has the ability to keep you interested and entertained. She also knows history and weird facts about everything!! 100 percent recommend and you won’t regret!

December 6, 2017

Four of us, two couples, happily toured Budapest and several other small towns with Julia for 2 days. She was so informative and obviously loves her city. She was completely flexible in terms of where we went and had lots of suggestions for us based on our interests.

We also hired a driver to enable us to maximize our time in Budapest as we wanted to do more than we had hours for!! Oh, and I guess some of you might be interested to know that the car was VERY clean and comfortable. Water was provided which was nice.

Our first stop, completely a surprise for Julia, was the Jewish quarter and synagogue. She gave us the full history of what we were seeing and made the whole experience so much more personal than just seeing a sight. I walked away just in awe of all she was able to explain and make come to life.

Julia was able to recommend wonderful restaurants. Try goose ragout if it’s on the menu!!

If you have the opportunity to go to Budapest, maximize your enjoyment and understanding by hiring Julia to take you around to the things that interest you. You won’t regret it at all.

We enjoyed a great private tour with Julia. She’s so sweet and full of the little details that you want to hear when you visit a new place. Thank you very much, highly recommended!

September 26, 2015

We traveled with our son and daughter-in-law through Central Europe and took a day trip to Budapest with Julia as our tour guide. This was one of several tours we took in various cities. We all agreed that Budapest was the high point of our trip and that Julia was our favorite guide. She went above and beyond the call of duty during difficult circumstances to get us in and out of Hungary. She is knowledgable, professional and friendly and obviously loves her city and wants her guests to love it as well. She’s fun to be with and she made us wish for more time in Budapest! It was just the four of us, which allowed her to tailor the tour exclusively to us. I highly recommend Julia for anyone who wants to tour Budapest.

September 23, 2015

Not only was Julia extremely knowledgeable about the history, customs and many beautiful places to visit in Budapest and it’s surroundings, she also has a very warm and sincere enthusiasm in communicating them. We visited many out of the way spots that only a true native would know about. What really sets Julia apart is her ability to share and relate her own life story and experiences to the recent history of Hungary, particularly the impact and effects of the German and Russian occupations on several generations of her family. We were very fortunate to spend two days touring Budapest and its surroundings with her. Thanks Julia….!! Tim and Leslie
